Fujifilm – Leaders in digital print

Written by Rich Vockins

‘Realise Your Vision’ showcases Fujifilm’s class-leading digital print technologies in a hardback book featuring 100 pages of rich colour and contemporary design.

Digital print has been adopted by more and more companies as the compromise between quality, cost and speed of production is increasingly eroded. Digital is now widely regarded as the future of the print industry.

Storytelling through design

Fujifilm wanted a piece that could tell their story in an inspiring way, from their origins in the 1930s, to becoming one of the print industry’s leading innovators.

Our design structure interweaves inspiring customer stories, product detail and history, providing an engaging point of entry wherever readers choose to start their journey.

The design utilises the distinctive Fixture typeface to deliver impactful headlines and help bring the creative to life. The strong typography is complemented by a vibrant colour palette, specifically chosen to demonstrate the wide colour gamut of Fujifilm’s digital presses.

A mixture of commissioned photography and bespoke illustrations supports the storytelling along with familiar Japanese iconography

A two-press process

The book has been printed using two different Fujifilm presses – the JetPress 750S inkjet digital press and the Revoria PC1120 digital toner press. The Revoria prints in 6 colours including metallic and pinks. It was used to print the complex book jacket which features a laser-cut spiral detail printed in white with silver highlights and finished with a machine varnish. The Revoria was also used for the colourful central fold-out section.

The majority of the book was printed on the JetPress 750S taking advantage of its enhanced colour gamut ‘MaxGamut’ to accurately reproduce spot colours and print images that retain their RGB colour vibrancy.

The Revoria PC1120 and JetPress 750’s capabilities are on display through the vibrancy of the colours on the Fedrigoni and Peyer paper stocks as well as the deep blacks and pixel-perfect reproduction.

The Realise Your Vision book is a harmonious combination of eye-catching design with exemplary production techniques and class leading digital print technology.

The project won first prize in the Trade Illustrated category at the British Book Awards 2023:
